The Flow Hop 22

The Flow Hop 22

I was gonna wait until the new year to post the latest Flow Hop mix. But then I got my hands on the new Sadat X and RoQ’y TyRaiD cuts and I got amped. I decided to go out with a bang. Dope cuts from some regular favorites like Common, 9th Wonder, Sean Touré, Columbo Black & Ryan Deshawn. And some new cats to the mix cycle, Blacktivity, GQ, Josua Gunn and Schoolboy Q.

NOTE: I added links the the artists twitter pages if you want to get more information on them. I was gonna add links to specific projects, but the twitter feeds will be the most current information on the artists so you have a direct link to them. We’re clocking in at just over an hour, so download, ingest, pass it around and enjoy.

The Flow Hop 19

The Flow Hop 19

Believe it or not, this is my 3rd attempt at this mix. The first time was a couple weeks ago. I was ready to bless it and push it to the masses, but I realized I wasn’t feeling it. It had the right songs, but it just didn’t flow correctly. So I scrapped it. The second time, it ‘felt’ a lot better. I had the album art done and everything.. but then out of the blue I got a DOPE freestyle intro from True Lies artist, Ryan Deshawn. I immediately threw it in the front of the mix.. and it just didn’t work all together. Plus I had received new music from Stahrr the Femcee, Ed O.G., JoLeon Davenue, Rapsody and KRS-One.. so I decided to scrap everything and once again start from scratch.

So hear’s my third attempt at The Flow Hop 19. For those of you not feeling the new 30 minute format, the three tries has pushed this mix out to over an hour. So enjoy. If you get the time, feel free the leave a comment or facebook ‘like’ the mix. It feels good to get some ‘getback’.

A lot of the same players are in it, and it’s got that same tight integration that you’ve come to know and love from my mixes. I’m trying to stay true to the “short and frequent mix” idea. The Flow Hop 17

The Flow Hop 17

This mix was a little difficult to throw together. Mainly because of all the music from 9th Wonder’s camp. I’m a big fan of Rapsody, Actual Proof, Sean Boog and rest of the IWWMusic Group. I tried to pad it with other jams but it didn’t feel right. I had to stay the course of my moto.. “if you think it’s dope, play.. no matter what”. So you’ll see 9th’s crew popping up frequent. I also through through in a remix i did for my favorite underground group, True Lies, and an excellent cut from Third Rail, a new group formed my Aarophat (of Black Noise).

Overall, a nice mix. I was getting into the groove of dropping mixes around the :30 – :45 minute mark, but this one tops over an hour, mainly from a few extended tracks. Enjoy. — The Big La, Todd Kelley
